Maharashtra Mandal New York – a non-profit organization was established in 1970 in order to foster and cherish distinctive cultural heritage of Marathi speaking people from India, residing in the Tri State area. The main objective of this organization was to maintain Marathi culture, Indian values and the traditions by organizing musical concerts, staging dramas, dance performances, and encouraging the youth participation in various social and cultural activities. In order to transmit Marathi cultural heritage to the next generation, festivals like Gudhi Padwa, Diwali and Ganesh Utsav are celebrated by focusing on our customs, rituals and traditions.
To contribute to the rich tradition of Marathi literature, Maharashtra Mandal and Marathi Vishwa New Jersey have been collaborating and publishing “Rangadeep”, an award winning Diwali magazine for over twenty years. In 2011 year Maharashtra Mandal New York started our own quarterly Web Magazine, “Snehadeep” with the aim of providing a platform to the youth, writers, poets and artists from our membership and to foster and provide exposure to their skills. All along Maharashtra Mandal New York has been trying to structure the relationship among its members by promoting unity.
Currently, Maharashtra Mandal has family and Individual members from all five boroughs of New York City, Long island, Westchester County, Connecticut and New Jersey.
